Now, ill start this article firstly by admitting for years I was a sceptic to the world famous Apollo Moon landings on July 20th 1969. I bought in to almost every single Idea as to why this, against the odds, mission could of actually been completed.

Fast forward 44 years to this present day and Nvidia, makers of the leading, top-draw, graphics cards for PC gaming, put its Maxwell architecture to the test in having to create the scene and environment that would have explain the moment Buzz Aldrin descended the ladder of Apollo 11's lunar module on to the surface of the moon and put conspiracy theorists accusations to bed
With Aldrin in the shadow of the Sun (off to the right and behind the lunar module) the only way he could be lit would be by some other auxilliary light source — like studio lighting...or can Nvidia prove otherwise?
With the launch of their GM204 graphical processing unitNvidia's demo team rebuilt the scene within Unreal Engine 4 to simulate the totality of light sources that day. The outcome is fairly simple but it's the skill, artistic efforts and power of this new piece of technology that really shines brighter than any star possibly could.
